— Common questions —

Things people ask about Student level.

Do I need a degree or a university place?+
No. Student level is open to anyone in structured or self-directed study: a degree, a conversion course, an apprenticeship, or a serious programme of your own design. The panel assesses the learning, not the institution.
What does Student level cost?+
The assessment is £29.99, one-off. If you pass, the Student annual fee is £49.99. Free membership is separate and stays free either way.
What happens when I outgrow it?+
You apply for Associate when your evidence supports it. Progression is a fresh assessment, not a restart: your record at the Institute carries forward with you.
Can my employer pay?+
Yes. Many employers fund accreditation as professional development, and we work with organisations on cohort enrolment. Point your manager at organisation partnerships.
What happens if I do not pass?+
You receive structured feedback from the panel against the published criteria, and you can apply again once your evidence has moved on. The fee covers one assessment.
