A specialist language model

One enquiry.
The service, the form, the policy.

The Local Government model from the Institute of AI is made for English council services. Route the enquiry, find the policy and draft the reply, with AI built, hosted and maintained in the UK.

The work behind every enquiry

The policy already exists.
Help people find it.

Bring the enquiry, the case notes or the policy in question. The Local Government model helps organise them into a clear answer for your team to check and send.

  • 01

Draft the reply to the resident

Answer in plain English, in the council’s voice, with the policy that decides the answer set out alongside it.

    Resident correspondence
  • 02

    Decode the policy for caseworkers

Turn statutory guidance, local policy and tenancy law into an answer a caseworker can act on today.

    Policy and guidance
  • 03

    Route the enquiry first time

Say which service owns the request and which form starts it, for every service the council runs.

    Service routing

Council correspondence, in the voice your residents already hear.

Pick an enquiry. The IoAI Local Government model works from the services, the policies and the forms behind them, and shows its source with every answer.

Local councils and combined authorities

Missed collection

The service that owns it, the form that starts it, and a reply the resident can act on.

Contact centre adviser: A resident says their bin was missed on Tuesday and wants to know what happens now. Local Government: This sits with Waste Services. The adviser logs the missed collection on the resident’s behalf and the crew returns within the timescale in the council’s collection policy. Source: Collection policy

Sovereignty and control

UK infrastructure.
Built to be trusted.

Discuss data and deployment requirements
  • Sovereign by design

Built, hosted and maintained in the UK by the Institute of AI.

  • Never trained on your data

Your prompts and documents are never used to train, tune or improve the model.

  • Secure by default

Encrypted in transit and at rest, with an audit trail for every request and every answer.

  • Shows its working

Every answer names the service it belongs to and the policy or guidance it rests on, so a person can check it.

Three ways to use it

Put the model inside your own systems: case management, web forms, the customer portal and back-office tools.

Questions

What happens to what we send?

It is used to answer your request and nothing else. It is never used to train, tune or improve the model. It is encrypted in transit and at rest, and every request and answer is recorded so you can see what was asked and what came back.

Where does the model run?

In the UK. The Local Government model is built, hosted and maintained in the UK by the Institute of AI.

Which guidance does it draw on?

The statutory guidance English councils work to, the standards that govern housing, planning, waste, licensing and revenues in England, and your own published local policy where you provide it. Every answer names the policy it rests on so it can be checked.

How do we access the model?

Access is by request. Tell the Institute of AI which council or authority you work for and what you would use the model for. The Local Government model is available through a secure chat workspace, an API or agents.
