The UK's professional body for AI.
This page brings the Institute of AI (IoAI) together in one place: who we are in one paragraph, the four areas our work runs across, the UK AI Readiness Charter, and the ways in for practitioners, organisations, and everyone else.
The Institute of AI,
in one paragraph.
The Institute of AI (IoAI) is the UK's professional body for artificial intelligence. It exists to set the standard of AI practice, to work to that standard itself, and to put it within reach of everyone else. Its work runs across four areas: the accreditation of professionals and organisations; an independent practice that advises on AI and engineers solutions for clients; its own platforms, built and operated for anyone to use; and AI for All, its public programme.
One professional body,
four areas of work.
Accreditation
IoAI accredits AI professionals at four levels, from Student to Fellow, against its own competency framework for what a practitioner should be able to do. Organisations are assessed separately, against a five-pillar maturity model.
Practice
IoAI runs an independent practice that advises organisations on adopting AI, from readiness and strategy to governance and policy, and then builds what it recommends, taking AI solutions from proof of concept into production.
Platforms
IoAI builds software. It designs, engineers, and operates its own digital platforms and AI systems.
AI for All
IoAI's public programme. It brings AI literacy and enablement to schools, charities, and young people through events, pro bono consultancy, and resources.
What we build ranges from education platforms and multi-player AI games to regulatory trackers and the UK AI Readiness Charter, and more besides.
The UK AI
Readiness Charter.
A plain-language standard for the responsible design, deployment and oversight of AI systems: written so a board can sign it, an auditor can check it, and a citizen can read it. Free to read. Free to sign.
There is a way in.
Whether you work in AI, lead an organisation adopting it, or are just getting started, membership is free and open to everyone.
