Continuing professional development · For Accredited Members

Accredited once,
current every year.

IoAI accreditation renews annually, and CPD is the honest, lightweight record of how you stayed sharp in between: a few hours through the year, written down as you go, submitted once with your renewal.

— The requirement —

Hours that scale
with the level.

Hours per membership year. They are a floor, not a ceiling; most members clear them without noticing.

— What counts —

Most of it,
you already do.

Reading

Books, papers, and serious long-form work. If it changed how you practise, it counts.

Events

Talks, meetups, and workshops, attended in person or online.

Mentoring

Structured time spent helping another practitioner develop.

Teaching

Running training, lecturing, or teaching AI to any audience.

Research and writing

Articles, papers, and talks you researched and authored yourself.

Volunteering

Pro bono AI work for charities, schools, and community groups.

Self-study

Courses and structured study, vendor or academic, finished properly.

Conferences

Industry conferences, as a delegate or as a speaker.

The bar is honest development. If it genuinely sharpened your practice, record it.

— The annual cycle —

No portal, no timesheets. One document, four fields per entry, submitted once a year with your renewal.

  1. 01
    Download

Get the CPD record at the start of your membership year. One PDF, yours to keep.

  2. 02
    Record

Add entries as they happen: a date, the activity, the hours, and a one-line note.

  3. 03
    Review

Before renewal, check your total against the hours for your level.

  4. 04
    Submit

Send the completed record with your annual renewal. That is the whole process.

— The record —

One document, filled as you go.

The CPD record is a structured PDF, not an essay. Each entry is four fields: a date, the activity, the hours, and a one-line note. Keep evidence only where it exists naturally, and submit the record once a year with your renewal.

— Common questions —

Questions members ask
about CPD.

Does my day job count as CPD?+
Some of it. Work that stretched you counts: a new technique, a new domain, a first time leading something. Routine delivery of things you already know how to do does not, however well you did it.
What evidence do I need to keep?+
Usually none beyond the record itself. Keep certificates, notes, or links where they exist naturally. A sample of records is reviewed each year, and the panel may ask to see what sits behind an entry.
What happens if I fall short of the hours?+
Tell us at renewal. One light year with a credible plan is a conversation, not a penalty. A pattern of missed years puts the accreditation at risk, because the credential means the practice is current.
When and how do I submit?+
Once a year, with your annual renewal. Attach the completed record when you renew and it is confirmed as part of the renewal review. There are no mid-year submissions to remember.

Keep your accreditation
current.

Download the record, fill it in as the year goes, and submit it with your renewal.
