A degree gets you read.
A credential gets you asked.
Every graduate applying for AI roles this year has a degree and a personal project. Very few have anything a hiring manager can verify. The Institute of AI, the UK's professional body for AI, accredits at four levels starting with Student, and while you are looking for work your accreditation pathway can be fully or partially funded.

Four stages, and the
first one costs nothing.
You do not need to do these in a rush, and you do not need permission to start. Each stage stands on its own and each one is visible to an employer.

Learn the parts your degree did not cover
Most courses teach the theory and skip the practice that employers ask about: governance, evaluation, how a model behaves once real people touch it. Learn AI covers that side, free, and your progress is tracked from the day you join.

Get assessed at Student level
Student is the entry grade of the accreditation ladder and exists precisely for people early in their AI journey. The assessment is £29.99 once, and it produces a credential rather than a certificate of attendance.

Use a funded pathway
Out of work and looking counts, and graduating into a search counts with it. The Institute of AI offers fully or partially funded accreditation pathways, so you can carry SIoAI through every application for little or nothing.

Log the CPD from day one
Your continuing professional development record starts the moment you are accredited. A year later it is the difference between saying you have grown and showing it, which is what an Associate assessment wants to see.
How CPD works
Six entry points, and only
two of them are engineering.
AI hiring is much wider than the job titles that get written about. Several of these roles want judgement and communication more than they want code.
AI analyst
Turning questions into things a model can answer, and answers into something a team can act on.
Junior machine learning engineer
Building and shipping models, usually alongside people who will check your work.
AI product associate
Deciding what an AI feature should do and, more often, what it should refuse to do.
Data analyst with AI scope
The classic graduate entry point, now with model outputs in the pipeline.
AI governance and assurance
Checking that AI use is fair, documented and defensible. Badly understaffed everywhere.
AI enablement and training
Helping an organisation actually adopt the tools it bought. Communication is the scarce skill.
Student accreditation is a one-off £49.99, valid for 3 years, and it applies to every one of these routes, because it certifies your standard rather than your job title.
