AI for students in the UK,
learn it the right way.

AI is turning up in every course, every graduate scheme and every job description. The Institute of AI (IoAI) is the UK's professional body for AI, and this is where students learn it properly: credible, jargon-free and free to use, with the option to prove what you know through a recognised Student accreditation before you have even graduated.

— How this works —

Learn it free, prove it early.

Two things, and together they are the whole point. Get a genuine grounding in AI at no cost, then turn it into a credential that says so, before your first graduate application lands on a desk.

— 01 · Learn it free —

Credible AI learning, with nothing to sell you.

Most free AI learning is a shop window for a paid product. IoAI is a professional body, so Learn AI exists to raise the standard of practice, not to move you towards a checkout. You get the real thing, explained without the mystique.

  • Built by a professional body, not a vendor with a product to push.
  • Plain English throughout, from your first lesson to the last glossary entry.
  • Free to use, with no course to buy and no upsell waiting at the end.
— 02 · Prove it early —

A Student credential that gives your CV a head start.

Student is the entry level of IoAI accreditation. Pass the assessment and you hold a recognised mark that says your AI capability meets a published standard, the kind of independent signal that reads very differently to "familiar with AI" on a graduate application.

  • Student is the first of four levels: Student, Associate, Professional, Fellow.
  • Assessed against a published competency framework, not a quiz you cannot fail.
  • Publicly verifiable, and kept active with annual CPD as you grow.

Student Accredited Membership from £49.99 a year.

— Why a credential matters —

Everyone says they use AI. Far fewer can prove it.

"Confident with AI" is on almost every CV now, which means it barely counts. A credential from the Institute of AI is different because it is not your word for it. It is assessed against a published framework and can be checked by anyone, so it says what a self-claim cannot: that your capability meets a recognised standard, held by the UK's professional body for AI.

Independent

No vendor affiliations, nothing resold, no pay to play.

Assessed

Measured against a published competency framework, not self-declared.

Verifiable

Every credential can be checked publicly, by any employer.

— Common questions —

Questions students ask us.

Is the Institute of AI's learning really free for students?+
Yes. Learn AI is one of IoAI's own public platforms, built and operated for anyone to use, so the lessons, the glossary and the quick answers cost nothing. There is no course to buy and no product being sold to you at the end, because the Institute of AI is a professional body rather than a vendor.
What is the Student accreditation level?+
Student is the first of four accreditation levels, ahead of Associate, Professional and Fellow. It is assessed against IoAI's published competency framework for what a practitioner should be able to do, and once you pass it, the credential is publicly verifiable so an employer can confirm it in seconds.
How much does Student accreditation cost?+
There is a one-off assessment fee of £29.99, and Student Accredited Membership is £49.99 a year to keep your credential active and listed as verifiable. Learn AI and the wider public platforms stay free either way.
Do I have to be studying computer science or AI?+
No. The framework is about capability, not your degree title, so the Student level is open to students across disciplines who can demonstrate a sound, responsible grasp of AI. Whether you read law, design, medicine or engineering, what matters is that you can use these tools well.
How does it give my CV a head start?+
It replaces a claim with a checkable standard. Instead of writing that you are good with AI, you point to an independent credential from the UK's professional body for AI that an employer can verify. As your career grows you can progress from Student to Associate and beyond, so the head start compounds.
