AI can genuinely reduce the time spent drafting feedback, building comment banks, or producing a first pass against a rubric that you then correct. Where it becomes risky is summative assessment. These systems cannot reliably justify a mark, they are inconsistent across similar scripts, and they may disadvantage students whose writing differs from the patterns in their training data. Pasting student work into a public tool also raises a data protection question your school needs to answer before anyone starts. A safe division of labour is to let AI help you write feedback faster, while every judgement about attainment stays with you.
