— Learn AI —

Five minutes a day,
taken seriously.

A job search is mostly waiting, and waiting is where AI skills go to die. Five minutes a day is a small enough commitment to survive a week of rejections and a large enough one to compound. Learn AI from the Institute of AI, the UK's professional body for AI, is free, open, and built to be picked up in short sittings.

— The arithmetic —

Small, every day, beats
heroic, once.

A weekend course you half-watched teaches you less than seven short sittings you finished. This is the only maths that matters here.

5
minutes a day

Roughly the time you lose to reloading a job board.

35
minutes a week

One sitting, split into seven pieces small enough to survive a bad day.

30
hours a year

Which is no longer a habit. It is a body of knowledge.

— Where it gets you —

Six weeks of five minutes,
and you are a candidate.

Week one

Stop being lost in the vocabulary

Model, token, prompt, context, hallucination. By Friday the language in job adverts reads as English rather than noise, which changes which roles you feel able to apply for.

Weeks two and three

Understand what the tools actually do

Not how to use ChatGPT, which you know. What happens underneath, why outputs vary, and where a system is likely to be wrong. This is the half that separates a user from a practitioner.

Weeks four to six

Learn the questions employers are asking

Governance, risk, evaluation, data handling. Every organisation adopting AI has someone worried about these, and very few candidates can speak to them calmly.

From there

Turn the habit into a credential

When the framework language feels familiar, sit the assessment. If you are out of work and looking, the Institute of AI offers fully or partially funded accreditation pathways.

— Common questions —

Five minutes a day, answered honestly.

Is Learn AI really free?+
Yes, and it is free without a catch. The lessons, the glossary and the quick answers are open, there is no sign-up wall, and nothing on Learn AI is being sold to you. A free Member account adds progress tracking, which is worth having if you want the weeks to add up.
Can five minutes a day genuinely teach me anything?+
It teaches you more than the intensive course you abandon on day three. Short and finished beats long and half-done, because understanding compounds when it is regular. The point of five minutes is that you will actually do it tomorrow.
Do I need a technical background?+
No. Learn AI is written in plain English by a professional body rather than a vendor, so it explains rather than impresses. If a non-technical board member could not follow it, it would be rewritten.
Where does this lead if I keep going?+
To accreditation, when you want it. The Institute of AI accredits at four levels against a published competency framework, and if you are out of work and looking, your accreditation pathway can be fully or partially funded.

Today's five minutes
is the only hard one.

Open Learn AI, finish one thing, and come back tomorrow. Join free and the Institute of AI keeps the record of what you have covered, which is useful the day someone asks.
