AI skills for young people,
free and jargon-free.

AI for All is the free, public programme from the Institute of AI, the UK's professional body for AI. It helps young people build real AI skills in plain English, through learning you can follow, events you can turn up to, and a genuine route into the field. No cost, no jargon, and no need to know anything first.

— What it is —

Real AI skills, in plain English.

AI for All is the public programme run by the Institute of AI. Its promise to young people is simple: real AI skills, explained in plain English, for free. There is no jargon wall to climb and no paywall to hit, and nothing assumes you already understand how any of this works.

That means learning you can actually follow. Short lessons that build on each other, a glossary that turns buzzwords into plain definitions, and quick answers to the questions everyone has but few people explain. Alongside the reading are free events, where you meet the ideas in person and get to try things with your own hands.

And it goes somewhere. AI for All is not a taster that leaves you at the door. It is a route from first curiosity to a first recognised step, so a young person who keeps at it can finish with a credential to show for it. The skills are real, the path is clear, and none of it depends on who your parents are or which school you attend.

— A route in —

From curiosity to capability.

Most AI advice for young people stops at 'go and learn something'. This is a clear, forward-moving path instead, four stages that carry you from your first question to a credential you can prove.

  1. 01
    Stage 01 · Start

    Get curious

Begin with plain-English learning that assumes nothing. Take a short lesson, look up a buzzword in the glossary, get a straight answer to a real question. No maths degree, no coding, no cost.

    Open the glossary
  2. 02
    Stage 02 · Try

    Try it

Move from reading to doing. Take on a small project, come to a free event, and see for yourself what the tools can and cannot do. This is where the ideas stop being abstract and start to click.

    Find a free event
  3. 03
    Stage 03 · Grow

    Build skills

Keep going at your own pace. Work through more lessons, learn to use AI safely and honestly, and build habits that hold up in study and in work. Skill comes from steady practice, not one lucky prompt.

    Keep learning
  4. 04
    Stage 04 · Prove

    Prove it

When you are ready, take a first recognised step. Student Accreditation from the Institute of AI turns what you have learned into a credential you can show, publicly verifiable and yours to keep.

Free to learn, and open to everyone.

The learning, the glossary and the events cost nothing. No trial that expires, no upsell waiting at the end.

  • No prior knowledge

You do not need to code or be a maths whiz to start. Plain English from the very first word, with jargon explained as it appears.

  • For every young person

Whatever your school, your background or your plans, AI for All is open to you. The route in does not depend on who you know.

— Common questions —

Questions young people ask us.

Is it really free?+
Yes. The lessons, the glossary, the quick answers and the events are all free to use, and there is no trial that runs out. AI for All exists so that cost is never the reason a young person cannot build AI skills. The only paid step is the optional Student Accreditation later on, if and when you choose to prove what you have learned.
Do I need to be good at maths or coding?+
No. The learning is written in plain English and starts from nothing, so you can follow it whether or not you code. Buzzwords are explained the moment they appear. Curiosity and a bit of persistence matter far more here than any subject you have or have not studied.
Who is AI for All for?+
It is for young people at any stage, whether you are at school, in college, at university, or just interested and not sure where to begin. There is no entry test and no background you need to have first. If you are studying, the AI for students page gathers the parts most useful for coursework and next steps.
Can I get a recognised qualification?+
When you are ready, yes. Student Accreditation from the Institute of AI is a first recognised step, assessed against a published standard and publicly verifiable so others can trust it. It is the final stage of the route, earned once you have built the skills, not a box you tick on day one.
Where should I start?+
Start at Stage 01. open the glossary, take a lesson that catches your eye, or ask a question in AI quick answers. From there the route carries you forward at your own pace: try things at a free event, keep building skills, and take the recognised step when it feels right.
