The UK AI Readiness Charter is a public commitment to preparing your people and your operations for AI. It is not a policy you buy, a course you sit, or a badge you rent. It is a public statement of where your organisation stands, made once and displayed for anyone to check.

Readiness is the whole of it. Using AI responsibly is one pledge of five, alongside building AI literacy in your people, investing in real skills, sharing what you learn, and keeping access open to everyone. The Charter is free, public, and written to be read in a boardroom or a staff room without a glossary.

What is the UK AI Readiness Charter?+

Is the Charter about responsible AI?+

Responsible use is part of it, but it is not the whole Charter. The Charter is about readiness: getting your people and your operations ready for AI. Responsible AI Use is one pledge of five, alongside building AI literacy, investing in skills, sharing what you learn, and keeping access open across your organisation.

Is it really free to sign?+

Yes. There is no fee, no card, and no upsell. The Charter is IoAI's public initiative to help build an AI-ready United Kingdom, and it stays free for organisations of every size.

How many of the five pledges do we have to sign?+

At least three. Most organisations can stand behind three today, and the other two become an ambition rather than a barrier. You can add pledges to your commitment at any time as your organisation becomes more ready.

What do signatories get, and how do we display it?+

Once you sign, the full Charter toolkit lands in your account: the signatory badge in SVG and PNG, four personalised social cards for LinkedIn and elsewhere, a set of communications templates covering an all-staff email, a board update, a funder note and a press holding line, a press release boilerplate, and an AI policy template your organisation can adopt on day one. You also get a shareable public verification page carrying your name, the date you signed, and IoAI's confirmation that it is real, so anyone from a customer to a regulator can check your signature in a click.
